A 5.0 earthquake centered in Canada were felt in Western Massachusetts were small tremors occured. The tremors was felt at around 1:45 p.m., the minor earthquake struck the Ontario, Canada, region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to Don Blakeman, the quake was felt across New England. He is a geophysicist with the National Earthquake Information Center.

"If an earthquake has an intensity of 2 or 3 most people will not feel that, but when it goes higher than a 3 there is 33 times the energy released. The higher the intensity of the earthquake the farther away from the epicenter people can feel it," Blakeman said.

The residents started calling the Police departments across the Pioneer Valley. They are those who felt their homes and buildings shaking.

"We responded to 140 High St. which is the south campus of Baystate Health System for a report of the building shaking," Leger said,spokesman of the fire department.
